About us

Richard Lawrence CEng MICE

I am a resident of Pembrokeshire and have a deep connection with the County. I am passionate about the natural environment and love to explore by bike, foot and kayak. During my spare time I teach youths and adults to kayak, introducing them to the wonder of the coastline and the wildlife that lives there.

Experience.

I am a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers with over 28 years’ experience in the design and management of a diverse range of civil and structural engineering projects. I have also spent 10 years managing a successful building control team within local government.

During my 23 years working in local government, I have been involved in the construction and maintenance of a large number of public buildings and structures including schools, leisure centres, sports pitches and housing stock. I have also designed, procured and overseen a number of demolition projects.

My role as Building Control Manager has given me an in-depth knowledge of both Building Regulations legislation and dangerous structure matters. This role has involved providing specialist structural engineering advice to the emergency services during a number of major incidents.

Prior to joining the local authority, I worked for a number of years with a private practice of consulting engineers in Wiltshire on a range of fluvial and coastal flood defence projects.
